Life of a Geek!!

So, the first thing that might have struck your mind right after you read the title is what after all a geek is? Wikipedia quotes, "The word geek is a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people, with different connotations."  However in simple language, the word geek refers to a person who is an avid as well as advanced user of technology such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and a lot more.

So, what's the basic difference between a geek and a non geek? Well, that difference is pretty huge. A simple person just uses the technology for simple aspects of their life or maybe just don't use the technology at all, while on the other hand a geek is a guy who extensively uses technology to simplify and untangle the works in his life.

Now, the next question that could come in anybody's mind is what are the benefits of being a geek? Well the benefits are several. Just for instance, typically a person visits the market, spends hours to purchase a product, while the geek on the other hand makes use of the technology and orders the same product, if not better, at a reasonably better price and that too at the comfort of his home in a matter of few seconds. Further a lot of surveys have also depicted that geeks usually are a lot smarter and attractive than their non geeks counterparts. Yet another big advantage is that a geek later turns into a blogger/game developer and earns huge bucks of money without even leaving his place i.e. without even going to office. He becomes self employed and lives life at his own conditions.

So, aren't there any disadvantages of being a geek? Well the are some disadvantages too. First of all a geek is generally accused of using his electronic device continuously through out the day, leading to poor eyesight. Further geeks are known to have a week social network as instead of communicating with real people they are mainly interested in interacting with their computers.

So, what one should choose to be, a geek or a non geek? Well, what I recommend is by creating a balance between the geek side and the non geek side, one can easily make use of all the advantage that a geek
has and can also enjoy the life of a non geek.
