Is Iphone4s Worth The Money??

Is iphone4s worth the money? Does it offer something new from iphone4? Should I go for it or wait for the iphone4s? These are the questions that are striking the mind of every iphone4 user.

Let me tell you iphone4s is nothing but a minor upgrade to iphone4. Apple added some features and launched the phone in the market. There isn’t any major change in the iphone4s except the introduction of Siri. As most of you will know, Siri is voice recognition software included in iphone4s. According to Apple:-

“Siri is the intelligent personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. It allows you to use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. But Siri isn’t like traditional voice recognition software that requires you to remember keywords and speak specific commands. Siri understands your natural speech, and it asks you questions if it needs more information to complete a task.”

It has a slightly faster dual core processor than iphone4. Also the Camera quality has been drastically improved. It has a 8 megapixel camera which shoots awesome HD videos. Look wise it is exactly the same as iphone4. Iphone4s supports both GSM and CDMA on the same chip which is an awesome feature. The iphone4s has a retina display with a high resolution.

These are very minor feature upgrades and as far as I think paying a whopping $400 for these small updates is not worthy. I would recommend waiting for iphone5 which will be out in a few months with ios5 and rumors tell that it has a lot new things to offer.  But again it’s your money and so you will have to decide whether these features are enough for paying a hefty price.

WHY CHOOSE PIRATED STUFFS WHEN THE FREE ONE'S ARE BETTER!!

A lot has already been written on the net about the topic I am going to deal. I do not want to get into the issue whether paid apps are better or the freewares. But I just wanted to write an article and let people know that there are a lot of free alternatives of the apps that you purchase. These free alternatives do almost the same work or sometimes even more than the paid ones. So instead of buying or using the Pirated versions of the paid apps why not try these free alternatives first and then move to the paid ones? I bet once you get used to these apps you will certainly forget all those apps for which you empty your pocket. Let me clarify one thing here, these freeware are only for Windows operating system. Sorry Macs and Linux… Let’s start:-

Antivirus
A lot of people are very much worried about their pc security. So to be secure they find it better to rely on a company which creates a hole in their pocket for providing its product. I am not saying that those apps are bad but Please give these apps a try first:-

AVG/AVAST/MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS
These are some of the finest antivirus programs which are provided for free. Microsoft provides its own antivirus program when you purchase a copy of Windows. AVG and Avast can be downloaded from the net for free. These antivirus programs are light on system resources and they do not slow down your computer performance as done by some reputed antivirus.
Media Players:-

Playing media files on computer is something almost everyone does. People buy paid programs such as Power DVD to play their media files. But there are some very cool and useful apps which can provide the same quality experience for you without spending a penny. Here are some of them:-

VLC/THE KM PLAYER/GOM PLAYER/MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC

These media players can play almost any media file and are very light on system resources. Vlc is one of the finest media players I have ever used. It can play almost any file you throw at it. It comes bundled with a very large collection of codecs which provides a seamless experience. It even handles HD Videos without any lag. Media Player Classic is also one such app. It has a very wide range of Codecs and it supports almost every media file. There are many more such apps viz. KM Player, Gom player etc. Better give them a try!!

Productivity Tools:-

Productivity tools include Word processing software, Power point software. Most widely use Productivity suite is Microsoft Office. This suite is quite costly and not everyone could afford it.
Here are a few very good yet free competitors of Microsoft Office:-

OPEN OFFICE/LIBRE OFFICE

Both these suites are very close competitors of Microsoft Office. They have almost all the features of Microsoft Office and are very easy to use. They are light weight on system resources and are worth giving a try.

Photo Editing Tools:-

A lot of people use photo editing tools for simple editing of their personal photos. Before switching to paid Adobe Photoshop app which is certainly an excellent app, please give a try to these apps.

PICASA/GIMP

Picasa is a small utility form Google which allows simple editing of your photographs. But GIMP is a very powerful photo editor which can also be used in professional photo editing. It has lot of similar features which are found in Photoshop and it is absolutely free. It has a very sleek and easy to use Interface which I like the most about it.

File Compression

Winrar is a very famous app for file compression. It is a paid app. There are a lot of alternatives of Winrar which do the same work for free. Here is one of them:-

7-ZIP

7-zip is an excellent file compression software which recognizes almost all the formats. It is a very light weight utility and is very quick.

DVD Burning

Nero is a very famous app which is used for burning of Cds and DVDs. You can also try these free apps which do almost the same work.

ASHAMPOO BURNING STUDIO

It is a great program and it’s easy to use Interface makes burning of DVDs easier. It also supports burning of dual layer DVDs.

So these are some apps which can help you in doing your work easily and without paying a penny.
The main motto of writing this article is to stop people from using pirated stuffs. Why use Pirated stuffs if the free ones are better?? Give them a try and you will start feeling the difference.

USB 3.0!! IS IT WORTH??

It has been some times since USB 3.0 was launched into the market. As we all know USB 3.0 is the next major version of universal serial bus devices. In this article I will be dealing with the question that arises in a lot of minds, “Is USB 3.0 Really worth It?” Should I go for it or is my old USB drive enough to do all the works?

Let’s start with the benefits of USB 3.0.

Pros:-

·         It has an extremely fast write speed. It can write 10x faster than USB 2.0.
·         It introduces full duplex data transfer which means it can read and write data simultaneously at full speeds. This is one feature which is not available in previous versions.
·         It is backwards compatible which means whether you get a new USB 3.0 device or a new computer that supports USB 3.0, your old device will be able to communicate with the new interface. Naturally, it will do so at the old USB 2.0 speeds.
·         It has extremely fast transfer speeds which mean you can transfer a 5 GB file in approximately 12 seconds.
·         Most of the operating system such as Windows 7, Linux etc. support USB 3.0
·         USB 3.0 is lot more power efficient than USB 2.0. It uses much less power as compared to USB 2.0

Now let’s talk about some of the drawbacks that USB 3.0 has.

Cons:-

·         It is very costly. A 16 Gigabytes of USB thumb drive costs $90 which is around 4600 INR. USB 2.0 drives are relatively a lot cheaper than USB 3.0 drives.
·         USB 3.0 is incompatible with USB 1.1
·         USB 3.0 supports maximum cable length of 3 meters as compared to 5 meters of USB 2.0
·         All motherboards do not support USB 3.0 There is still a limited number of motherboards which support USB 3.0
·         If your motherboard does not support USB 3.0, then you can only get USB 2.0 transfer speeds with a USB 3.0 drive.

As we saw above the major benefit of USB 3.0  is transfer speeds. It has enormously fast data transfer speeds. On paper USB 2.0 claims maximum data transfer speeds as 482 MBPS whereas USB 3.0 claims maximum speeds upto 5 GBPS, which is 10 times more than USB 2.0. On the other hand USB 3.0 drives are very costly as compared to USB 2.0 devices. Also USB 3.0 device are incompatible with USB 1.1 devices so old motherboards will be out of race. The motherboards which support USB 3.0 are very costly. These are generally high end motherboards. If you are a system administrator and plan to install operating systems using your USB thumb drive, then USB 3.0 is for you. It makes the installation of any operating system 5 times faster(Based on my own experience).
So to sum it up if you are an average user and do simple file copying tasks there is not much need of
Investing huge amount for these devices since USB 2.0 devices have enough speeds for performing daily tasks. But if you are an advanced user and perform a lot of file related tasks, USB 3.0 is for you. It will really make your work easier and faster than ever before.
