(SOLUTION)DVD Drive NOT Showing in Windows 8 CONSUMER PREVIEW!!

You installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview but unfortunately it is not showing your DVD drive. Don't panic. Follow these steps to get your DVD drive back.

1. Run the Command Prompt with administrative privileges (Ctrl+Shift+Enter).

2. Type the following command:

reg.exe add “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0×00000001

3. Now restart the system. Hopefully it will start showing.

(Solution)Micromax 310G Not recognized in Windows8 Consumer preview

You Installed Windows 8 Consumer preview and installed Micromax 310G modem’s software. It installed fine but to your astonishment the device’s software is displaying “No device” even though the device is plugged in. You tried re-installing the software but to no avail. What to do now?

Don’t panic. Follow these steps to get your device working.

(i) Close the modem software and exit the software completely from system tray.
(ii) Go to C:\Program Files\MMX310G 3G USB Manager\Driver (C drive represents the drive where you have installed the program)
(iii) Now run the file InstallDriver.exe
(iv) The software will reinstall all the drivers of the modem.
(v) Start the MMX 310G Modem’s software.

Now the software will detect the modem and now you are ready to connect.
