Google Launches Google Drive

How To Turn On Numlock by Default??

Want Numlock to be On forever/By default? Follow these instructions to get it done.

Go to Start > Run and type regedit. This will open the registry editor.

Find the following registry key:

HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard

Change the value of InitialKeyboardIndicators

Double Click on it and enter the value 2.

If you Are Not familiar with regedit, You can download and run this file to get the job done. When you will run the file it will ask for a confirmation. Just select YES.

Airtel Launches 4G!!

Bharti Airtel launched India’s first 4G LTE service ealier today in Kolkata. This network is currently available in only Kolkata but will soon roll out to rest of the India. 4G LTE claims a maximum speed of 100 Mbps compared to 3G speeds of max. 21 Mbps. 

Airtel also announced their 4G Data tarrifs. The starting plan is of 6 GB FUP for 999/- Post FUP speeds are 128 kbps. The 4G USB  Dongle costs Rs 7999.

Is Iphone4s Worth The Money??

Is iphone4s worth the money? Does it offer something new from iphone4? Should I go for it or wait for the iphone4s? These are the questions that are striking the mind of every iphone4 user.

Let me tell you iphone4s is nothing but a minor upgrade to iphone4. Apple added some features and launched the phone in the market. There isn’t any major change in the iphone4s except the introduction of Siri. As most of you will know, Siri is voice recognition software included in iphone4s. According to Apple:-

“Siri is the intelligent personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. It allows you to use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. But Siri isn’t like traditional voice recognition software that requires you to remember keywords and speak specific commands. Siri understands your natural speech, and it asks you questions if it needs more information to complete a task.”

It has a slightly faster dual core processor than iphone4. Also the Camera quality has been drastically improved. It has a 8 megapixel camera which shoots awesome HD videos. Look wise it is exactly the same as iphone4. Iphone4s supports both GSM and CDMA on the same chip which is an awesome feature. The iphone4s has a retina display with a high resolution. 

These are very minor feature upgrades and as far as I think paying a whopping $400 for these small updates is not worthy. I would recommend waiting for iphone5 which will be out in a few months with ios5 and rumors tell that it has a lot new things to offer.  But again it’s your money and so you will have to decide whether these features are enough for paying a hefty price.

Create a Windows 7/ Windows 8 USB Installer!!

Now you can install Windows 7/ Windows 8 using your pen drive. Microsoft has released a utility known as  Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool  tool which will integrate Windows setup into your pen drive.

Download and run the setup file. Install the program. Now run the shortcut icon placed on desktop. It will ask for the iso image of the operating system you want to install. Select the file, then select your USB drive and select Start copying. Once the file copying is completed, you are ready to go.

Windows 8 Start Button is not coming Back!!

Tami Reller, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of the Windows and Windows Live division confirmed that Start button is not going to be included in the upcoming versions of Windows 8. It was also not included in Windows 8 Consumer preview which was released on Feb 29. There will be a tutorial of how to use Windows when user will boot the very first time after installation.

(SOLUTION)DVD Drive NOT Showing in Windows 8 CONSUMER PREVIEW!!

You installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview but unfortunately it is not showing your DVD drive. Don't panic. Follow these steps to get your DVD drive back.

1. Run the Command Prompt with administrative privileges (Ctrl+Shift+Enter).

2. Type the following command:

reg.exe add “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0×00000001

3. Now restart the system. Hopefully it will start showing.

(Solution)Micromax 310G Not recognized in Windows8 Consumer preview

You Installed Windows 8 Consumer preview and installed Micromax 310G modem’s software. It installed fine but to your astonishment the device’s software is displaying “No device” even though the device is plugged in. You tried re-installing the software but to no avail. What to do now?

Don’t panic. Follow these steps to get your device working.

(i) Close the modem software and exit the software completely from system tray.
(ii) Go to C:\Program Files\MMX310G 3G USB Manager\Driver (C drive represents the drive where you have installed the program)
(iii) Now run the file InstallDriver.exe
(iv) The software will reinstall all the drivers of the modem.
(v) Start the MMX 310G Modem’s software.

Now the software will detect the modem and now you are ready to connect.

A lot has already been written on the net about the topic I am going to deal. I do not want to get into the issue whether paid apps are better or the freewares. But I just wanted to write an article and let people know that there are a lot of free alternatives of the apps that you purchase. These free alternatives do almost the same work or sometimes even more than the paid ones. So instead of buying or using the Pirated versions of the paid apps why not try these free alternatives first and then move to the paid ones? I bet once you get used to these apps you will certainly forget all those apps for which you empty your pocket. Let me clarify one thing here, these freeware are only for Windows operating system.
